Quote :
According to SI.com's Don Banks, there are "rumors" that JaMarcus
Russell has ballooned to close to 300 pounds since last season ended.

Russell, who coach Lane Kiffin has named the Raiders' starter, had
weight issues in college. InsideBayArea.com's Jerry McDonald writes in
his blog that no players have actually seen Russell this offseason, so
the rumors are hard to confirm. Russell has shown the ability to drop
weight quickly.

There is alot of DT and DE in the league who arent even 300 lbs. That is WAY too much for a QB to weigh, especially one that has mobility issues. They have alot of money wrapped up in him, 6 year 60 million dollar contract, for him to weigh that much. He had better get his weight under control before hte season or the opposing DE are gonna have fun sacking him.

The Raiders will never get out of this whole as long as Al Davis is still their owner. He wanted a 300 lb QB, is paying 70 million to a "cancer" corner, paid 50 million to a DT who was a UDFA just a few years ago, is paying 55 million to a WR that can never stay happy no matter what team he pays for.
If the Raiders win 10 games over the next 3 seasons I'll be surprised.

As a Broncos fan, i naturally hate the raiders and Al Davis. Russell, Kelly, Hall and Walker are all good players though, just overpaid. Russell is a great athlete. No one has seen him in a while, so this is still just a rumor but he reminds me a lot of Donovan McNabb. Kelly is a very underrated DE/DT, but not worth that much. He could start on a lot of teams. Hall is only a few years removed of being compared as the next Champ Bailey. If he can get back on track he is a great CB. And J. Walker? I love the guy. Phenomenal WR when healthy, but again, not worth that much until maybe his second or third year after he has shown he can play a whole season.

Just think of their DB's. Asomugha, D. Hall, M. Huff and S. Schwiegert. They might need a new FS, but this can be one of the best DB core in the league.

I wouldnt say McNabb. McNabb is very mobile (or use to be before his tear in his knee) and his arm strength isnt as good as Russells. There size is compareable but thats it. I think he is more compareable to Byron Leftwich. Both have cannons for arms and both bigger builds and both arm the most mobile guys, even though russell is a little more mobile.
