While Brady Quinn says he's ready for a competition, GM Phil Savage says it's not going to happen.
Derek Anderson is going to have lose the job, and it won't happen in
practice. "I donít think thereís going to be an open competition,"
Browns GM Phil Savage said. "We go in with Derek as the lead horse. You
donít sign a contract like that and say, Ďhey, itís an open
competition.'"

Looks like Anderson, if not traded, will be the starter until he starts stinking it up. I say week 6 and Quinn will be the starter. LOL. I am not a big fan in Anderson and he did play well at the begining of the year last year but towards the end he was an INT machine and played not so good.

I agree that Anderson struggled, but I don't think the Browns always put him in the right positions to be succesful later in the year. I love Chudzinski as the OC, but there were times when I questioned his play-calling. Anderson made a lot of bad throws, but he also made some very impressive throws too. Not to mention Anderson has shown an unteachable quality in always having cleveland in a position to win the game at the end, and ultimately, that's all you can ask for.

I think Quinn will turn out to be good, but Anderson has just as much potential too.

Anderson throws too many picks, I think BQ has the brains to see D's better than DA does. I know Quinn hasn't proved anything yet, but DA proved to me that he can put up 1/2 a good season. He was horrible the second half of the season, the hype from the first 1/2 just made people think he was still playing good. I want to trade him for an early pick, we need a CB now that Bodden was traded to the Lions.

I don't think Anderson has proved anything yet either. One year is one year regardless of how good or bad. Anderson has shown nothing more than potential to be great and potential to be average, however, even at him playing average Cleveland was still winning or in contention to win at the end. That's something that can not be coached. He may be the DA we seen the 2nd half, which I agree wasn't very good (it wasn't completely terrible either- he threw 4 bad ints against CIN but CLE still could have won and DA was a big a part of that as anyone).

I believe Quinn will be a fine QB too, but DA has shown more to me and deserves to be the starter.
