With the 20th overall selection in the draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select ..............
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB Tennessee State

Tampa was in a tough spot here with this pick. Tampa was not high on the "1st round WR's", the top 3 RBs were already off the board and Tampa didn't feel like there was a DT worth the 20th overall selection. Rodgers-Cromartie is a bit of a risk since he didn't play in division 1-AA, but Tampa feels he is worth the risk and will be a great CB for them. Ronde Barber and Brian Kelley are up in age and Phillip Buchanan is not a #1 type CB. R-C will add some youth to the secondary that was already ranked 1st in the NFL. Tampa had other needs they wanted to address but were not in a position to do so.

With the 21st overall pick in the draft, the Washington Redskins select..............
Quentin Groves, DE Auburn

Washington wanted to trade out of the 1st but found no takers and were in a tough position with this pick as every player Washington had interest in would be a bit of a reach pick. DE was the biggest need and Groves was the best one still available that fit what Washington wanted. Groves is probably a better fit in a 3-4, but Washingtons D-Line lacks a speed rusher which Groves will be. Groves will probably be an instant starter and will hope to improve the pass rush of the Redskins Defense. The Redskins were stout against the run last year so a pass rushing DE makes the most sense on a D-Line full of run-stuffers.

With the 23rd overall pick in the draft, the Steelers select..............
Carl Nicks, OT, Nebraska

Simply put, he is the best overall tackle available now. Showed very well at the combine and worked his way into the first round.

With the 24th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select.................
Limas Sweed WR Texas.

It's hard to not pick Desean Jackson, but his size scares me a bit. He weighed in at under 170 lbs and was only 5'9''. Vince Young doesn't have the best accuracy so he needs bigger targets, and Sweed still has great speed. Also, Sweed and Young were college teammates which means they already have good chemistry and their timing should be easy to get again.

With the 25th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Arizona Cardinals select.................
Reggie Smith, Oklahoma

I was debating between drafting a RB or a CB, but i feel that there are some pretty good running backs in the second round to watch out for. Smith will help out Antrell Rolle and should compete for the starting job from day one.

With the 26th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Jacksonville Jaguars select.................
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami U

Bobby McCray is going to be an unrestricted free
agent and probably won't be brought back while Reggie Hayward is still
trying to regain his pre-injury form and he isn't much of a pass rushing threat on the right side. so a pass rusher is needed.
Paul Spicer turns 33 in August. Think the Jaguars need a defensive end? I also considered a CB and WR here but they just traded there 6th round for Troy Williamson of the Vikings and they already have alot of money wrapped up in CB's after getting Brian Williams (a $32 Million contract signed 2 years ago-bad call), who isn't the greatest corner and has been a bust since coming to Jacksonville.

With the 27th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers pick.............
Pat Sims DT Auburn

When Luis Castillo went out for a few games last year, their defense hurt badly. This is a team with very few needs, so they pick up a solid starter/backup in Sims after trying to trade down but couldn't.

With the 28th overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys pick.........
Desean Jackson WR California

Dallas got rid of their current kick returner and Jackson is a beast at kick returns. Also, TO is getting old and Terry Glenn is about to retire. Jackson was considered the best WR in this draft for most of the year, and the fact that he fell this far makes him a potential steal. Jackson is small, but runs just as fast as Ted Ginn Jr., nobody in this draft can stretch the field like Jackson does. Adding Desean to this already good offense should make them even more dangerous.

With the 29th overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the 49'ers select.........
Early Doucet WR LSU

The Niners need a WR desperately. Jackson would have been a great pick, but Doucet is an elite receiver in his own. Should be a starter on day one and can help A. Smith, F. Gore and V. Davis in the offense.

With the 30th overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select.........
Sam Baker, OT USC

Miami was afraid that they weren't going to be able to solidify there offensive line with a LT by seeing how many teams in the first went after a LT, so they traded up to the #30 pick in the first round to snag Sam Baker. Miami really wanted to get Ronnie Brown and John Beck some protection. Last year Beck had no time to thrown the ball and even though Ronnie Brown was playing at a Pro Bowl level before he went down, the line still wasn't getting him much hole to run through. With the Dolphins taking Sam Baker they can move Vernon Carey to RT, which he is much better suited. Sam Baker was rated a top 20 pick and I am surprised to see him fall this far. The best way to start a rebuilding pahse is to solidify your offensive line and by getting Baker they did just that.

Miami considered many positions here like WR: but with the recent knews of Miami close to signing FA WR Ernest Wilford, Miami should look to a later round to go after a WR

With the 31st pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select...............
Antoine Cason CB Arizona

The Giants are pretty set on the offense, but their defensive secondary is horrible, and they are lacking in depth. They drafted Aaron Ross first last year, and adding Cason opposite of him should beef this D up. Cason had an incredible 35.5 inch vertical at the combine. He also is known for shining in the spotlight.
