With Eli's elevated play since Shockey broke his leg, been floating around that he might be on his way out. Kevin Boss stepped in for Shockey and really played well in his absence.

Rumors are beginning to float around the league that Jeremy Shockey's days as a Giant could be coming to a end...
the team has been on an upward swing since the Shockey injury and Eli Manning has come into his own without having to deal with Shockey's antics on the field.

I think they would be better off without Shockey. He's a pretty good TE, but he's never really overly impressed me. I think Kevin Boss will do them just fine at TE without him and he seems to be a locker room cancer (and Kellen Winslow was supposed to be the problem child TE from Miami...I think not).

If they can trade him to a team like Seattle who has been trying to find a good TE and get draft picks or a WR (which they desperately need IMO) like Hackett they could be the team to beat next year in the NFC.

They should def. trade him. Boss has really impressed me. He has great hands and is a great runner with the ball in his hands. Plus, he isn't a team distraction like Shockey and he is making way less money. Trade him for a wide receiver(Toomer is pretty old) or a draft pick and increase your salary cap space.

Exactly!

After watching the Super Bowl, The giants are in desperate need of WR's. Burress is too inconsistent Toomer is old and Smith is a slot guy. I think a trade to Seattle who has been attempting to get a TE unsuccessfully for awhile and Hackett could be a great addition to the giants, but i'm not sure that Seattle would go for that trade.

Atzinger, you took the words right out of my mouth. I was thinking Seattle would be the perfect landing spot for him too. Either that or maybe the Jags, who lack outside offensive weapons.

Yeah, Jacksonville could definitely use him too but I don't know who they could give up to get him unless the Giants would be willing to take one of their WRs, which I doubt.

Yeah, but Jacksonville could afford to maybe give up a pick, as they are just a few players away from being a great team. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jacksonville make a push to get Shockey. Remember, Shockey did play for Miami University, so he's a familiar face in Florida. Not to mention Jacksonville isn't usually very aggressive in FA, maybe they'll dip into their pockets a bit more this year. Only time will tell.
